Container Traffic via Russian Ports Up 7.1% in April 2021

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports in April 2021 increased by 7.1% year-on-year.

    Export grew by 4.3%, import by 8%, and transit was up 2.9-fold. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 4%.

    Laden container throughput via the Russian sea ports was up 11.1%. Reefer containers accounted for 13% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 87%.

    Imports made 51.1% of all the laden containers, exports 34.2%, cabotage 10.4%, and transit 4.3%.

    Empty container traffic decreased by 6.7%.

    The Baltic basin accounted for 45.2% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian sea ports in April. The Far East basin handled 36.5%, the Azov and Black Sea basin accounted for 15.9%, the Arctic basin for 2.4% and the Caspian basin for 0.06% of the total.
