FESCO Transport Group is ready to substitute bananas delivered to Russia from Ecuador with those from India and Viet Nam. It has already accumulated sufficient reefer container stocks in those countries, the Group said in its social media account.
‘We have informed the Ministry of agriculture and all the major retailers that we can replace banana deliveries from Ecuador with deliveries from other markets, first and foremost from India and Viet Nam, which are part of our service network. We have accumulated sufficient reefer container stocks. I am sure that there will be no deficit of bananas in Russia. If the situation with Ecuador is not resolved, we have other alternative markets,’ FESCO Board Chairman Andrey Severilov said.
The volume of banana delivery depends on the Russian retail networks’ demand. ‘If there is stable demand, we are prepared to consider acquiring additional fleet. But for that, we need firm guarantees from retailers. It is desirable that we have take or pay contracts,’ Severilov added.
