Russia and India will discuss the Vladivostok – Chennai transport corridor project, the Primorsky Kray government press office reports quoting the regional agency for international cooperation.
At the Bright Gujarat Forum that was held in India in January, Anatoly Bobrakov, Vice Minister for the development of the Russian Far East and Arctic, said it is planned to discuss the topic with the Indian party at the start of the year.
The transport corridor project was also subject of the discussion during the meeting between the ministers of foreign affairs of Russia and India at the end of 2023.
‘Taking into account the current geopolitical situation, the governments of our two countries pay much attention to developing shipping between India’s east ports and the ports in the Russian Far East,’ the Primorsky Kray agency for international cooperation said.
The Vladivostok – Chennai shipping corridor was quite actively used before 1996. At the Eastern Economic orum in 2019, a document providing for the development of shipping connections between Vladivostok and Chennai was signed.
