Судостроительный центр создадут в Корсаковском порту

Shipbuilding Center for Korsakov

  • Umatex plans to invest 6.5 bn rubles ($109 mn) into building a shipyard on the Island of Sakhalin, the regional government press office reports.

The investor intends to use the port-based facilities of the former fish processing factory in Korsakov to build small-tonnage vessels from composite materials.

By 2026, the yard is expected to have built up to a hundred of such ships.

‘Building smaller ships from composite materials is a promising business. Fishermen in the Far East do need such high-tech vessels to fish in the coastal areas, and travel companies need them to offer trips for their guests. And it is very important that such ships will be built on Sakhalin,’ Governor Valery Limarenko commented.
