Ice-Strengthened Ferry for Kamchatka Launched

  • On August 20, a ro-pax ferry under construction at the Livadia Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Yard for the Kamchatka Peninsula was launched.

The Project 03770 “Stanislav Agapov” ordered by the regional ministry of transport and construction will be deployed to transport passengers across the Ozernaya Channel in the Ust-Kamchatsk region. She will replace the “Kapitan Drabkin” ferry that has been in service for 47 years already.

The vessel was designed by a St. Petersburg construction bureau. The 34.8 LOA 9.6 beam ferry will have a passenger capacity of 50 and will be capable of transporting up to 7 cars (or 3 trucks and 2 cars). The ice notation of Arc4 will allow it to operate in the ice up to 90 cm thick.
