Container Traffic via Baltic Basin Ports in November 2021 Down 1%

    The total container throughput via the Baltic basin ports in November 2021 decreased by 1% year-on-year. Import was down 5.5%, and transit down 27.1%. Export, on the contrary, grew by 10.6%.

    The article is based on SeaNews PORTSTAT online service (available for SeaNews subsribers).

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the share of the Baltic basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in November 2021 amounted to 42.2%.

    Laden container throughput decreased by 1.8% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 13.8% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 86.2%. Transit made 9.4% of all the laden containers, exports 40.9%, and imports 49.7%.

    Empty container traffic increased by 4.1%.

    The Big Port of St. Petersburg accounted for 78.4% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Baltic basin sea ports in November. Kaliningrad handled 20.8%, and Ust-Luga 0.9% of the total.
