TransContainer and Global Ports, both parts of Delo Group, have launched a new container services for imports arriving to Russia via the Russian Far East to the city of Penza in Central Russia.
Containers arriving at Vostochnaya Sevedoring Company, part of Global Ports, from China are carried on board a block train to TransContainer’s own terminal in Penza.
The transit time by rail is 11 days. At the initial stage of the project, trains will be running twice a month, in future, the service frequency is expected to be increased.
The first train carrying 137 TEU laden with wood pulp, chemicals, ferrous and non-ferrous metal products, and equipment arrived to Penza in January.
The service is designed to serve the importers in Penza as well as in other locations in Central Russia and the Volga region.
