Floating LNG Terminal and Gas Carriers for Kamchatka

  • The Government of the Russian Federation has approved of a road map for the gasification of the Kamchatka Kray till 2025. The President of the Russian Federation commissioned to organize delivery of liquified natural gas to the peninsula including that produced by the Sakhalin 2 project.

    The road map defines the stages and dates, as well as the financial sources, the press office of the Government said in its social media account.

    In order to switch Kamchatka to LNG, new berths and a LNG terminal are to be built in the Rakovaya Bay. The shore-based infrastructure development is to be financed by the federal government. For that purpose, 12 bn rubles ($128.5 mn) is assigned in the federal budget.

    The construction of a floating LNG terminal and LNG tankers is to be financed by private investors.
