During 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and the countries of the European Union increased by 2.3% year-on-year up to 258.6 bn euro.
According to Eurostat, while export from EU countries into Russia was down 38.1% during the period under report to 55.2 bn euro, import from Russia to the European Union grew by 24.3% up to 203.4 bn euro.
In December 2022, European exports to Russia declined by 53.2% year-on-year and 29.4% month-on-month down to 3.6 bn euro.
Russian exports to the EU decreased by 53.6% year-on-year and by 37.9% month-on-month to 8.5 bn euro.
In 2022 Russia rated the ninth largest importer from the EU. Among the largest exporters to the EU countries, Russia ranked the fourth after China, the USA and Great Britain.
