Terminal Astafiev in the port of Nakhodka in the Russian Far East has handled its first container ship. On September 1, 2022, the 704 TEU m/v “Veniamin Khlopin” belonging to Kamchatka Shipping Company berthed at the terminal.
Handling cargo originating from abroad has become possible after a customs control zone was established at the terminal.
Terminal Astafiev is focused on container business development taking into account the growing demand for terminal facilities to handle cargo delivered to Russia by sea, Alexey Vladimirov, MD of the company, commented.
To handle containers, Terminal Astafiev has developed its infrastructure and acquired new equipment.
Earlier this year, he first block train laden with cargo handled via Terminal Astafiev was launched from Nakhodka rail station to Moscow.
In future, the company plans to have daily block train departures.
