The newly built water basin of the Southern Area in the port of Ust-Luga has been put into operation by order of RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot), the Agency said in a statement.
The construction lasted from September 2008 till December 2019, the federal budget invested into the project more than 2 bn rubles ($33.2 mn).
The Southern Harbour consists of four areas with a total area of 73.9 hectares providing access for vessels to the multifunctional terminal, the timber terminal, and the auxiliary fleet base currently under construction.
