More than 683 mn rubles ($10.9 mn) of additional subsidy will be assigned for granting tariff privileges for railway transportation of agricultural products. A governmental decree to this effect was signed on July 14 by RF Premier Mikhail Mishustin.
Additional financing is expected to help agricultural producers to cut their transport expenses and supply more grain, oilseeds, vegetables and fish as well as more mineral fertilizers to different regions in Russia. The growth in transportation of such commodities is expected to make almost half a million tons.
The federal programme to subsidize railway transportation of agriproducts started in 2019. The aim is to compensate for the losses railway operators incur when granting tariff privileges for agricultural producers. Privileged tariffs for agriproducts apply both to wagon and containerized transportation modes.
In 2022, 3.2 bn rubles ($50.9 mn), or 75% of the earlier planned subsidy has been already assigned for that purpose this year.
