Russia has completed the construction of its part of a new cross-border bridge via the Amur River to connect Russia and China between Nizhneleninskoe in Russia and Tunjian in China.
On the Chinese part of the bridge, the construction of a disinfection facility is being completed. After that, the entire bridge is to be put into operation.
The new cross-border infrastructure is designed for export cargo like coal, iron ore, timber and logs, containers and other commodities.
The project is part of the intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. The bridge can be used by trains of both Russian (1520 mm) and Chinese (1435 mm) gauge standards.
The capacity of the bridge will make 5.2 mn tons per annum at the first stage. In future, it can ebe expanded up to 20 mn tons of freight annually.
