According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in May 2021 increased by 22.5% year-on-year. Export grew by 3.5%, import surged by 72.7%, and transit by 77.4%. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 2.3%.
The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in May 2021 amounted to 35.5%.
Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 26% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 6.3% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 93.7%. Imports made 50.8% of all the laden containers, cabotage 24.1%, exports 19.1% and transit 5.9%.
Empty container traffic was up 13.6%.
The port of Vladivostok accounted for 56.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in May. Vostochny handled 26.9%, and Korsakov 5.9% of the total.
