According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total cargo throughput via the Russian Far East basin ports in February 2021 increased by 10% year-on-year. Transit grew by 6.2%, export was up 11.8%, and import up 64.2%. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 25.2%

The share of the Far East basin in the total cargo traffic via all the Russian seaports in February 2021 amounted to 26.6%.

More than 75% in the Russian Far Eastern ports’ commodity structure is coal, oil and products. In February 2021, coal and coke accounted for 45.6% of the total volume, crude oil for 23.3% and oil products for 6.1%. Containerized cargo constituted 8.4% of the total.

It should be noted that the highest growth rate was in the non-ferrous metals segment (up 2.7-fold), grain (up 2.6-fold) and other bulk (grab) (up 2.1-fold).

The commodities that decreased the most were other bulk (suction) (-42%), piece cargo (-27.5%) and metal scrap (-18.8%).

Vostochny accounted for 34.7% of the aggregate cargo throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in February. Vanino handled 17.3%, and Nakhodka 13.7% of the total.
