Astrakhan Yard Lays Keels for First Container Vessels

  • The Lenin Yard in Astrakhan has laid the keels or two first RSD-81 container ships to the order of GTLK State Transport Leasing Company, Astrakhan region Governor Igor Babushkin said in his social media account.

    The Lenin Yard was renovated five years ago, and last year it doubled production volume, the Governor noted adding that the order for the container ship is not just one-off, a series of ten vessels is to be built. Four of them are to be delivered in the coming two years, so the yard has an orderbook for several years to go.

    The state of the art universal vessels can be actively deployed in the North-South International Transport Corridor assisting freight traffic growth by the route, Babushkin said.

    • Beam: 16.98 m,
    • Board height: 6.8 m,
    • Draft in river: 3.6 m,
    • Draft at sea: 5.348 m,
    • Capacity: 385 TEU,
    • Speed laden at 4,72 m draft: 10 knots.
