TransContainer and Global Ports, both pars of Delo Group, have launched a regular train service from Nakhodka in the Russian Far East to Nizhny Novgorod in Central Russia, Delo said in a statement.
Containers delivered by sea to the Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company container terminal in the port of Vostochny off Nakhodka are transported from the railway station of Nakhodka-Vostochnaya to the station of Kostarikha.
The transit time by rail is 11 days, the planned service frequency is once in 10 days. The first block train carrying 139 TEU arrived at TransContainer’s terminal at Kostarikha on November 24.
The service is designed to cater for imports from APR countries to Russia’s Volga region. Prior to this, such cargo was carried from the Russian Far East to Moscow and distributed to other regions from there.
The new service is aimed at optimizing logistics for importers located in the Volga region, Denis Ilatovsky, Delo Group VP, operations, commented.
