A keel laying ceremony for two Design 00108 container ships is to be held in Astrakhan on June 29, when Russia is celebrating the Shipbuilder Day.
The project was discussed in a meeting between Astrakhan Oblast Governor Igor Babushkin and United Shipbuilding Corporations’ Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center MD Anatoly Mishanov.
This year the yards located in Astrakhan Oblast have already delivered a RST 25 Design chemical tanker and a PKS-180 passenger paddle steamship.
By the end of the year two dredgers, two 00216М Design tankers, one RST 25 Design chemical tanker and a PV300VD Design cruise liner are scheduled for delivery.
On May 4, the keel for the first to be ever built in Russia universal container ship also capable of transporting bulk cargo in holds was laid at Lotos Shipyard.
The contract for building four such vessels was signed with GTLC.
