An X-ray customs inspection portal system, the first of the kind in Russia, has been put into test operation at the Mashtakovo border crossing checkpoint on the Russia-Kazakhstan border, the RF Ministry of Transport said in a statement.
The high-tech equipment allows of reducing the time for inspection from 40 minutes to just 8 minutes. There are two portal X-ray systems at Mashtakovo, one for trucks entering the country and the other fir those leaving.
Similar systems are to be installed and put into operation this year at three more bordfer crossing checkpoints on the borders between Russia and Azerbaijan (at Taghirkent-Kazmalyar), China (at Zabaikalsk) and Kazakhstan (at Petukhovo).
