Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company, part of Global Ports, the operator of the container terminal in the port of Vostochny in the Russian Far East, intends to acquire 9 container cranes from China’s ZPMC.
The parties have concluded an agreement on the construction of four RMG cranes in summer 2022 with delivery in 2023. Two units will be deployed in the container yards and two at the terminal railway.
During the Eastern Economic Forum in September this year VSC and ZPMC signed a letter of intent providing for delivery of two more RMGs and three RTG units. The terminal is to receive this equipment in Q1 2024.
The cranes have a capacity of 50 tons, they are equipped with a spreader stabilization system and a state of the art safety system, they are energy efficient and operate steadily in a low speed mode.
Expanding the crane fleet will allow VSC to increase the speed of container operations, increase the storage capacity and use its container depots more efficiently due to stacking containers in more tiers.
At present, VSC operates 10 RMG and 5 RTG cranes at the terminal. After the new batch of equipment is delivered in 2023-2024, the crane fleet deployed at VSC will doube.
