September 5, as part of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum programme, a ceremony was held at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex to name a new generation LNG-fueled Aframax oil tanker built for Sovcomflot.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Premier, Minister of industry and trade Denis Manturov, Sovcomflot Board Chairman Sergey Frank, Sovcomflot CEO, Chairman of the Management Board Igor Tonkovidov, and Zvezda CEO Sergey Tseluiko.
The vessel was named after “Okeansky Prospect”, the main street in Vladivostok, to continue the tradition of naming Sovcomflot’s vessels carrying Russian export cargo after central streets of Russia’s major cities.
The vessel was designed to meet the strictest environmental standards and is best in class in terms of energy efficiency and technical solutions implemented, Sovcomflot said.
It was built under a package of contracts between Sovcomflot, Rosneft and Zvezda that envisage construction of two large-tonnage Aframax tankers to be time chartered by Rosneft for 20 years.
The 114,000 dwt, 250 m LOA, 44 m beam tanker will have a 1A/1B ice class notation allowing to operate year-round in areas with severe ice conditions including Sub-Arctic seas and Russian Baltic ports.
