A ceremony to name a new generation LNG-fueled Aframax oil tanker under construction for Sovcomflot will be held during the 8th Eastern Economic Forum this September, Roscongress Foundation, the Forum organizer, announced.
She will be named “Okeansky Prospect”, the main street in Vladivostok, the venue of the Eastern Economic Forum, to continue the tradition of naming Sovcomflot’s vessels carrying Russian export cargo after central streets of Russia’s major cities, like “Nevsky Prospect”, “Ligovsky Prospect”, “Liteiny Prospect”, etc.
The vessel is being built at the Zvezda Shipyard in the Russian Far East under a package of contracts between Sovcomflot, Rosneft and Zvezda that envisage construction of two large-tonnage Aframax tankers to be time chartered by Rosneft for 20 years.
The 114,000 dwt, 250 m LOA, 44 m beam tankers will have a 1A/1B ice class notation allowing them to operate year-round in areas with severe ice conditions including Sub-Arctic seas and Russian Baltic ports.
The new vessel will be deployed carrying export crude from Russian ports in the interests of Rosneft.
