Lavna Fairway Dredging Project Approved

  • The Main Department of State Expertise has approved of the project documentation and engineering survey for dredging the port basin and approach fairways of the Lavna coal terminal in Murmansk.

    The project envisages dredging the fairway up to the depth of 21.15 m and the terminal basin up to 20.9 m. An area of more than 210.5 thousand square meters is to be dredged.

    The construction of the new port of Lavna on the west shore of the Kola Bay started in autumn 2021. Initially, the project was aimed at handling coal. Now, container operations are also being considered.

    The project is scheduled for completion by 2023.
