Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in December 2021 Up 7.5%

  • The total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in December 2021 increased by 7.5% year-on-year. Export grew by 6.9%, and import by 25.3%, while cabotage declined by 4%, and transit by 44.8%.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in December 2021 amounted to 37.3%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 12.4% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 7.4% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 92.6%. Imports made 53.7% of all the laden containers, cabotage 22.3%, exports 21% and transit 3%.

    Empty container traffic was down 4.4%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 57.5% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in December 2021. Vostochny handled 25.9%, and Korsakov 5.8% of the total.
