Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in November Up 25.4%

  • The total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in November 2021 increased by 25.4% year-on-year. Cabotage grew by 13.9%, export was up 30%, and import up 39.4%. Transit, on the contrary, declined by 23.1%.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in November 2021 amounted to 40.2%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 28.5% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 7% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 93%. Imports made 52.1% of all the laden containers, cabotage 23.6%, exports 20.4% and transit 3.9%.

    Empty container traffic was up 17.5%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 60.9% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in November. Vostochny handled 24.3%, and Korsakov 6.8% of the total.
