Vanino Handles First Container Vessel in 10 Years

The port of Vanino in the Russia Far East has handled its first container during the past ten years. The 132.7 m LOA “Acacia WA” delivered 211 containers with car parts from China. From Vanino, the cargo will be transported by railway to Tula region for the car plant of Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus.

Recently, Vanino has been specializing on handling coal, although in the 1980-90ies and in the early 2000ies it served container services to Magadan, Kamchatka and South Korea. The port hopes that container shipments via Vanino will resume.
