Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company, part of Global Ports group, has stopped handling coal altogether. The last shipments of coal were loaded on September 2, the company said in a statement.
VSC announced stopping handling coal in August explaining that it intends to concentrate on its core container business.
At present, the dust suppression equipment and protective screens are being dismantled, and by the end of the year the territory that was used to handle coal will be ready for storing containers.
VSC started handling coal in 2011. According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, during January-July 2021 the company handled over 1 mn tons of coal, down 6.8% year-on-year.
Container traffic via the terminal during January-July amounted to 303 thousand TEU, up 20% year-on-year.
