Maersk has launched a regular intermodal container service from Huangdao (Shandong, China) to Khovrino (Moscow).
The first train carrying 50×40’ containers with automotive goods left Huangdao on July 17 and arrived at Khovrino on August 15 crossing the Russian border at Zabaikalsk on August 7. The total transit time made 26 days.
Upon arrival to Khovrino Maersk arranged on-carriage of goods to final consignees.
The new service will run on a monthly schedule.
The partner on the Russian side of the route is RZD Business Active JSC.
Maersk is actively expanding transcontinental transportation of containers by rail via Russia. In 2019, the company launched transit AE19 service between Asia and Europe via ports of Vostochny (Nakhodka) and St. Petersburg.
