Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant-URALTRAC, part of Uralvagonzavod Concern, a subsidiary of Rostech State Corp., has embarked on a project to manufacture standard containers in a move ‘to respond to the growing demand for transportation of smaller shipments under the COVID-19 pandemic conditions’, the company said in a statement.
‘We estimate the need for 40’ containers in the Russian market to make a thousand units. It is a promising market with large customers,’ Vladimir Lebedev, actin MD of ChTZ-URALTRAC, commented.
The company acquired additional equipment and trained personnel to make containers. The first prototype has been manufactured and successfully tested. By the end of May the company intends to have made another three test samples.
The ChTZ-URALTRAC-made containers will comply with the requirement of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
