Russia Exports More Ice Cream

    According to SeaNews Russian Foreign Trade Customs Statistics online service, in Q1 2020 Russia exported 5.6 thousand tons of ice cream and juice ice, up 40% year-on-year worth $10.4 mn (+13%).

    Russian mad ice cream and juice ice was shipped to 23 countries, the major importers being Kazakhstan, China, the USA and Canada.

    Most of the ice cream and juice ice exported was designated for Kazakhstan. In Q1 2020, it made 2.9 thousand tons, 2 times more than the year before. In monetary terms, shipments to Kazakhstan increased by 22.6% up to $3.7 mn. The products were mainly shipped from the Novosibirsk Oblast and Moscow.

    Export to the USA increased 9.6-fold up to 501.2 tons worth $1.3 mn, up 11.4-fold. The largest volumes were shipped from Moscow.

    424.4 tons (+94.5%) of ice cream and juice ice worth $697.6 thousand was shipped to Canada, all of it originating from Moscow.

    Export to China decreased by 0.4% down to 397.8 tons worth $1.6 mn, up 9.2%. Three quarters of that volume was shipped from Moscow.

    The largest share of ice cream and juice ice was exported from Moscow. In the first quarter of 2020, 2.7 thousand tons was shipped from the region, 22% more than during the same period in 2019. In monetary terms, exports increased by 32.5% up to $6.4 mn. The major importing countries were Kazakhstan, China, the USA and Canada.

    Shipments from Novosibirsk Oblast increased 5.4-fold up to 1.4 thousand tons in terms of tonnage declining by 29.9% to $462.1 thousand in terms of value. The products were shipped to Kazakhstan, China, Belarus and Mongolia.

    193.2 tons (-13.1) of ice cream and juice ice worth $452 thousand (-8.6%) was exported from Tatarstan to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Abkhazia and Tajikistan.
