Block Train from Yekaterinburg to Novorossiysk

  • TransContainer has launched a new train service for domestic shipments from Yekaterinburg to Novorossiysk.

    The first train carrying containers laden with plywood and steel arrived to Novorossiysk on Match 3. The next train is scheduled to depart from Yekaterinburg in the second half of March.

    The first train carried 60 TEU, the second train will be fully loaded, a spokesperson for TransContainer told SeaNews. Plywood will be shipped by sea from Novorossiysk to Egypt, steel is designated for Italy and Turkey.

    The train will operate on a regular basis, the initial service frequency will be monthly. The block train technology will cut transit time from Yekaterinburg to Novorossiysk down to four days, according to TransContainer.

    So far, there is no back load for the train from Novorossiysk to Yekaterinburg.
