Russian Transport Sector in January-July

  • During January-July 2018, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system grew 5.9% year-on-year to make some 4.5 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, road transport accounts for the largest share in the entire volume with 2.9 bn tons, up 7.5% year-on-year.

    Rail cargo volume increased 3.1% up to 752.6 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up 3.7% to 681.1 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume grew 0.6% to 53.2 mn tons, while maritime transport volume declined 18.3% down to 11.6 mn tons.

    Air freight also decreased 1.6% down to 0.6 mn tons.

    In July transportation volumes by all transport modes grew month-on-month.
