Russian Inland Shipping Cargo Up

  • During January-April 2018, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system grew 6.1% year-on-year to make 2.36 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, road transport accounts for the largest share in the entire volume accounting for 1.5 bn tons, up 7.6% year-on-year.

    Rail cargo volume increased 3.4% to 426.1 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up 4% to 407.6 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume grew 3.9% to 10.7 mn tons, while maritime transport volume declined 15.3% down to 6.1 mn tons.

    Air freight also decreased 2.95 down to 0.33 mn tons.
