NCSP Throughput Down

  • Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port handled 11.7 mn tons in January this year, 7.8% below the January 2017 result.

    Primorsk was down 34.1% year-on-year to 3.7 mn tons. Baltitysk (Baltic Stevedoring Co) grew in terms of TEU handled (+7.9% to 9.5 thousand TEU), but declined tonnage-wise (-6.3%).

    Novorossiysk-based assets of the group (NCSP proper, IPP, Novoroslesexport, Novorossiysk Shiprepair Yard, Novorossiysk Grain Terminal and Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal, which is a JV with Chernomortransneft) were up 13.4% compared to the last year’s figure making 7.9 mn tons.

    Liquid cargo traffic via Novorossiysk and Primorsk declined 10.4% to 8.8 mn tons. Crude oil handling dropped 17.1% to 5.5 mn tons, oil products grew 3.7% to 3.2 mn tons.

    Bulk cargo handling increased 3% year-on-year to 1.3 mn tons. Grain export was up 23.2% to over 1 mn tons, and raw sugar up 23.2% to 14.8 thousand tons.

    Other bulk categories declined. Iron ore was down 21.9% to 138.4 thousand tons, coal down 24.1% to 135.4 thousand tons, and chemicals down 68.4% to 34.1 thousand tons.

    General cargo decreased 2.8% to 1.1 mn tons. Non-ferrous metals grew 5.8% to 111 thousand tons and perishables were up 20.2% to 17.2 thousand tons, other cargoes in this category declined.

    Ferrous metals were down 3.6% to 928 thousand tons, and timber and logs dropped 16.2% to 28.5 thousand tons.
