Vladivostok Hits Record

  • Commercial Port of Vladivostok, part of FESCO group, hopes to have handled 7.2 mn tons in 2017, an all-time record for the entire 120-year history of thep port.

    As of December 11, the port handled over 7 mn tons of cargo already.

    According to SeaNews’ statistics, in January-November 2017 Commercial Port of Vladivostok handled 6.8 mn tons of cargo, 33% above the previous year’s result.

    Import traffic grew 61% year-on-year to 1.14 mn tons, export was up 41% to 3.6 mn tons, transit decreased 19% to 177 mn tons, while cabotage remain on the previous year’s level making 1.2 mn tons.

    Container throughput via Commercial Port of Vladivostok grew 44% to 427.8 thousand TEU. Ferrous metals, the port’s second largest commodity group, were up 8%, metal scrap up 31%, ro-ro cargo up 87%.

    The commodity groups that grew the most were coal and coke (+296% year-on-year), non-ferrous metals (+258%), grains (+239%) and chemical and mineral fertilizers (+595%).

    Oil products were down 17% and timber and logs down 13%.
