Container Traffic via Azov and Black Sea Basin Ports Up 4.2% in September

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in September 2021 increased by 4.2% year-on-year. Export was up 9%, and import down 0.8%. Cabotage was non-existent in September 2021.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in September 2021 amounted to 12.1%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 18.8% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 95%. Exports made 54.5% of all the laden containers, imports 45.5%.

    Empty container traffic declined by 48.1%.

    The port of Novorossiysk accounted for 98.7% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Azov and Black Sea basin sea ports in September. Azov handled 1.2%, and Kavkaz 0.1% of the total.
