Container Traffic via Russian Ports Up 5.9% in October 2020

    The article is based on SeaNews PORTSTAT online service (available for SeaNews subsribers).

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports in October 2020 increased by 5.9% year-on-year.

    Cabotage container traffic grew by 1.3%, export by 6.1%, and import was up 11.6%. Transit, on the contrary, dropped by 61.6%.

    Laden container throughput via the Russian sea ports was up 8.2%. Reefer containers accounted for 9.5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 90.5%. Imports made 50.8% of all the laden containers, exports 36.5%, cabotage 11.5%, and transit 1.2%.

    Empty container traffic decreased by 2.1%.

    The Baltic basin accounted for 45.7% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian sea ports in October. The Far East basin handled 36.9%, the Azov and Black Sea basin accounted for 13.8%, the Arctic basin for 3.5% and the Caspian basin for 0.1% of the total.
