Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 17

  • The market in the Sea of Azov is quite silent, open positions are prevailing. The forthcoming May holidays will hardly change the situation. Owners right now are ready to indicate even lower than it has been showed in this report in order to be covered for the holidays period, according to Rufco shipbrokers.

    Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $22-23 per ton and from Yeisk $21-22 per ton.

    Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports are $20-21 per ton from Rostov and $19-20 per ton from Yeisk.

    Caspian freights are stable, no significant changes are to bee seen here. Shipments ex Volga ports are still active and charterers are ready to book any April or May dates.

    Owners are showing bullish attitude for these shipments in an attempt to get higher freight.

    Current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $33-35 per ton.
