Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 12, 2018

  • Among other Azov river ports, Temryuk is standing out as freight rates there have risen significantly.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, some owners report that the increase in comparison with last week is about 4-5 dollars.

Charterers have made a try to bring rates down upon cancellation of ice restrictions, but the overall market activity is still high and not so many open tonnage is available now. All these factors are supporting freight levels keeping them intact for Rostov / Azov / Yeisk shipments.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $35-36 per ton and from Yeisk $34-35 per ton.

Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports are $33-34 per ton from Rostov and $32-33 from Yeisk.

Caspian rates have been corrected a bit, the activity is lowered due to the prolonged holidays in Iran. Rufco expect that rates will go down a little bit more, but should revive again in April.

Freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $36-39 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings.
