Ferrous Metals Export

  • The export of ferrous metals continues to decline. According to the Federal Customs Service, in January-October 2017 Russian export of ferrous metals decreased by 3% in comparison to the same period last year and amounted to 34.48 mn tons.

    In terms of money, ferrous metals export, on the contrary, grew by 32.6%, to $15.02 bn.

    In particular, the export of iron and non-alloyed steel semi-finished products amounted to 11.7 mn tons – 4.4% less than a year earlier. At the same time, in monetary terms, export increased by 36.3% – to $4.79 bn.

    The export of flat-rolled iron products and non-alloyed steel, according to the Federal Customs Service, was up 0.5% to 7.2 mn tons. In terms of money, the export of flat-rolled products also increased by 44.9% year-on-year to $3.75 bn.

    The volume of pig iron export during the period under report decreased by 15.4% compared to the 10 months of 2016  to 3.58 mn tons. In terms of money the export of pig iron on the contrary increased by 29.4% to $ 1.2 bn.

    Ferroalloys export in January-October 2017 amounted to 617.4 thousand tons (down 1.7% compared to the level of the 10 months of 2016), in terms of money to $1.08 bn (+7.9%).
