Winter Navigation Season Starts in Russian Gulf of Finland

  • Winter navigation season 2023-2024 has started in the Russian Gulf of Finland, the RF port property management agency Rosmorport reports. Rosmorport-managed icebreakers have escorted the first vessels to/from St. Petersburg and Vyssotsk.

Due to the low temperature and the start of ice formation in sea port basins, icebreaking season has been announced in the ports of St. Petersburg, Vyborg, Vyssots, Primorsk and Ust-Luga.

On November 30, the icebreaker “Kapitan Izmailov” escorted the first vessel during this winter navigation season from the Big port of St. Petersburg and two vessels from the port.

Since December 1, the “Kapitan Izmailov” has been serving vessels sailing to and from the port of Vyborg, while vessels heading to/from St. Petersburg are escorted by the icebreaker “Ivan Kruzenshtern”.
