RZD Logistics has started carrying freight by rail between China and Russia via the Nizhneleninskoe – Tunjiang border crossing checkpoint.
The first train left for Moscow from the station of Shengyang carrying fifty 40’ containers laden with car parts, the company said in a statement. The transit time is expected to make 2o days.
According to Alexander Sivertsev, Director, Container Shipping, RZD Logistics, the capacity of the new border crossing checkpoint is more than 20 million tons a year, so it will be capable of handling part of the China – Russia freight traffic thus easing the load on the railway infrastructure.
The railway bridge over the Amur River linking Russia and China started in November 2022, the first container train crossed the bridge in July 2023.
