Первый контейнерный поезд из России в Саудовскую Аравию

First Ever Block Train from Russia to Saudi Arabia

  • The first ever block train started from Russia to Saudi Arabia transiting Iran, Iran.ru reports quoting IRIB. The train carrying 36 containers has passed the territory of Turkmenistan crossing the border to Iran at Inche-Borun to proceed to Bandar-Abbas for further shipment to Saudi Arabia.

The new container service has been launched in the framework of the International North-South Transport Corridor. According to the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the new route will cut the transit time by several days and slash the transit costs by almost twice due to the lower customs tariff.

According to the spokesperson for the customs, it is planned to deliver some $250 bn worth of goods from India, China and East Asia to Europe by the same route.
