On August 24 Russian Railways’ St. Petersburg Finlyandsky terminal and logistics center was reopened after modernization in St. Petersburg, Russian Railways said in a statement.
The modernization project was launched in 2018. It included building new container yards, installing new handling equipment and opening a drivers’ service station.
The refurbished center features an automated terminal and warehouse management system that control registration and passage of trucks and freight trains.
Even before the project was fully completed, in 2022, the center handled 634 thousand tons of cargo, four times as much as in 2018.
