FESCO Plans Damietta – Novorossiysk Service

  • FESCO Transport Group and the Russia-Egypt Business Council will cooperate to develop the Group’s transport and logistics services in Egypt, FESCO said in a statement.

An agreement on the subject was signed by Andrey Grechkin, CEO of FESCO’s reefer subsidiary Dalreftrans, and Mikhail Orlov, Chairman of the Russia-Egypt Business Council, at the Russia – Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum in St. Petersburg.

The parties agreed to promote communication with shippers and authorities in Egypt and investigate the cargo base in Africa to assist the launch of a direct FESCO-operated service from Novorossiysk to Egyptian ports, for reefer cargo and other commodities.

According to Andrey Severilov, FESCO Board Chairman, the Group estimates the potential freight traffic between Damietta and Novorossiysk to make some 30,000 TEU annually.

At present, FESCO is finalizing the opening of an office in Egypt, he said speaking at the forum. FESCO views Egypt as a hub for transit to North, and, possibly, Central Africa, Severilov added.

He also said that FESCO is planning to launch maritime services to Maghrib countries including Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
