OTEKO, the operator of marine terminals in the port of Taman, has put into operation a roofed sulphur warehouse for 300,000 tons, the company said in a statement.
The facility is part of the company’s Taman dry cargo terminal. The new warehouse is expected to help increase sulphur export via Taman (the project capacity of the terminal is 5 mn tons per annum).
The roofed sulphur warehouse is the largest of the kind in the world, it covers 2,500 square meters. The facility is located 1 km from the water. The warehouse is divided into two parts with separate storage zones.
Sulphur is loaded into the warehouse with dumping trolleys and unloaded with two semi-portal scraper reclaimers that move on rails along the storage facilities. The warehouse is complete with state of the art industrial and environmental safety systems.
Sulphur handled in a fully enclosed manner. The sulphur wagon tipper located in a separate closed room allows of unloading up to 480 wagons per day, which is equivalent to 33 thousand tons of product.
OTEKO loads sulphur onto bulkers from 15,000 to 120,000 dwt for Morocco, China, Brazil and other destination. The designed loading performance is up to 2,500 tons per hour.
