RZD Logistics has sent its first block train by the Eastern branch of the North-South International transport corridor from Yuzhnouralsky Transport and Logistics Center.
The train carrying 31 ISO container is designated for the rail station of Sarakhs in Turkmenistan. In future, RZD Logistics intends to offer service on a regular basis, the company said.
Yuzhnouralsky Dry Port, the operator of the transport and logistics center and a subsidiary of Russia’s State Transport Leasing Company, intend to cooperate in developing transport services for exports and imports using the TransCaspian and the Western branches of the North-South corridor as well.
An agreement providing for such cooperation was signed between RZD Logistics, Yuzhnouralsky Dry Port, KTK Port, and Alpha in June 2023. The block train sent on July 10 is the first shipment under the agreement.
Yuzhnouralsky Transport and Logistics Center incorporates a 10,000 TEU container terminal, a Class A warehousing complex, and railway and engineering infrastructure. The center covers an 180 ha area including territories for potential expansion.
