RF President Vladimir Putin has signed Federal Law On making amendments to some legal acts of the Russian Federation, the press office of the Kremlin reports. The bill was approved by the State Duma on June 29, 2023 and by the Council of the Federation on July 5, 2023.
The Bill regulates some issues related to operating autonomous vessels making amendments to the Code of Commercial Shipping of the Russian Federation and the Code of the Inland Water Transport of the Russian Federation.
These Codes are supplemented with a definition of an autonomous vessel, regulations concerning controlling and operating such vessels.
The Bill also introduces amendments to the federal laws On inner sea, territorial sea and adjoining zone of the Russian Federation, On transport security, and On sea ports in the Russian Federation concerning regulating legal relations in respect of operating autonomous vessels.
