Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has delivered the Aframax tanker “Akademik Gubkin” to the customer, Rosnefteflot, a subsidiary of Rosneft. On the same day, the yard launched another Aframax tanker, the “Vostochny Prospect”, under construction for Sovcomflot.
RF Premier Mikhail Mishustin took part in the ceremony via teleconference, the yard said in a statement. He noted that the vessels are built using the most advanced technologies and comply with the most stringent environmental standards.
The tanker “Akademik Gubkin” is the fourth Aframax tanker built by Zvezda. The vessel has successfully completed sea trials. After the delivery ceremony the tanker left the yard for her maiden voyage.
The green Aframax tankers are designed to transport crude oil in an unlimited navigation area thanks to the propulsion machinery that can run on environmentally friendly fuel, liquefied natural gas, in accordance with high environmental standards.
The 114,000 dwt, 250 m LOA, 44 m beam tankers have a 1A/1B ice class notation allowing them to operate year-round in areas with severe ice conditions including Sub-Arctic seas and Russian Baltic ports.
Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has 12 such tankers in its portfolio. The first three vessels in the series are already deployed.
