Ural Railcar Building Construction Bureau has developed a new 22-5223 Model hopper car for transporting chilled coke, Rostec said in a statement.
It took a year to complete the design and start manufacturing. The hopper car is equipped with two combined bodies for carrying a maximum of coke.
The body cladding is ‘floating’ to compensate for thermal expansion up to 300 degrees Celsius when transporting hot coke. The unloading devices can unload each of the bodies separately.
The hopper is serially manufactured at Volchansk Mechanical Plant.
